Rooms are very upscale and comfortable beds.
They charged $10 for parking and same for internet.

Old Hollywood charm and style, clean and surprisingly nice rooms. Friendly staff, good food in the Patio Cafe. HUGE well heated pool.

Fun, retro, old Hollywood feel to this hotel.
Didn't like view of parking lot.

The hotel is a fun place to go especially if you are interested in old Hollywood Stars and memorabilia. We recognized a few actors there and bit players, they were enjoying the huge pool. The beautiful ground are all closed off due to an upcoming renovation of the grounds and restaurant center. Large rooms, average decor, very comfortable bed and linens. ...read more

Surprisingly clean. Also must have been recently renovated.
Parking and internet fee.

Overall a decent stay, but I left feeling a little frustrated with the extra fees for parking, internet. To be fair, the hotel was under new ownership and currently under renovation. Access to the hotel from Ventura Blvd. was a slight challenge as I had to get through a separate restaurant's valet attendants before getting to the hotel lobby. The room seemed newer and more updated than the lobby, which was a pleasant surprise. ...read more

Location to attractions/freeways excellent.
Parking was terrible; valet took up half the parking lot.

The location was perfect. Only a few minutes drive to all the tourist spots. The restaurant menu was extensive and the service was an A+. We were unhappy with the room when we checked in, but the staff was happy to give us a different room. The only complaint was the parking. At night, valet takes up half the lot and you have to park way in the back of the hotel. They should consider where to put valet. ...read more

When the internet ran access continued to freeze up, they agreed not to charge us without complaint.
They were undergoing remodeling and the place was a mess. The workers arrived at 7:30 and made a lot of noise.

It is old and dated-not quaint and charming. Its like a bad motel, not a quality hotel. Our balcony overlooked a dumpster. The hotel staff didn't seem happy in their work, it was rare to see someone smiling. My teenager daughter said the place gave her the creeps. It was such a let-down staying here after leaving the Disneyland Hotel. It was a very disappointing ending to an otherwise wonderful vacation. ...read more

Paper on front door every morning.
Old, depressing looking interiors, fluorescent lighting.

This hotel is old, shabby and has awful smells in the rooms.
I would never rank this place more the a two star.
I think
I got the shaft when
I was told this was three star from your sight and comparing this place to a hyatt or westin. ...read more

Excellent, moderately priced cafe with wonderful food on the grounds.
Cafe and bar closed at 9 pm each night.

This hotel offers tons of ambiance, lush grounds, a beautifully maintained pool and tropical setting. It's history is evident in the hundreds of autographed pictures of famous pictures that adorn the walls of the cafe. Great location, just minutes away from Universal Studios, Warner Brothers, and countless other attractions. The pool at night with the thousands of lights in the vegetation is beautiful. ...read more

Ambiance of wood and plants was nice.
Lighting was poor.

Upon first entering the room, I ask the desk person if the pile of trash in the hall could be removed and they assured me it would. It remained right outside our door the one day we were there.

No fee for parking, great pool and close to Universal.
Older hotel but still ok for a short stay.

We only stayed at the lodge one night and didn't check in until about midnight. Still, the hotel seemed nice enough for what we wanted (a safe hotel near Universal). When we explored the hotel the next day, we wished that we could have stayed a bit longer and enjoyed the huge pool. The rooms were what one might expect from an older hotel--a bit outdated and a little worn--but the hotel seemed nice enough and in a safe location. If you're looking for luxury then this isn't it, but if you want a safe place to stay while you're out visiting Universal and the sites then it's a great value. ...read more
